One of the biggest questions we get asked is if hospice is covered by insurance.

More often than not the answer is yes. The majority of our patients at Keystone Hospice are over age 65 and qualify for Medicare coverage. Medicare (Medicare Hospice Benefit), Medicaid, Veteran’s Administration, private insurance carriers, many HMOs most other insurance carriers provide:

  • 100% coverage with no deductible and no co-pay
  • Full coverage of medications related to the terminal illness
  • Usual and customary medical supplies are also covered

Hospice Benefit Periods include:

  • The initial 90 days
  • The subsequent 90 days
  • Extra 60 day extensions (unlimited)

Private payments are also accepted. Call Keystone Hospice and our experienced staff will help determine if you or your loved one qualifies for benefits.

Complementary alternative medicine modalities—such as massage and acupuncture—are not currently reimbursed by any insurance provider, including Medicare. However, we fervently believe that these methods improve quality of life in a way that cannot be achieved by other means. That is why Keystone continues to provide these services at no cost to you or your family.
